ION EXCHANGE

Post Treatment

Deaerators, Strippers & Scrubbers

Removing dissolved gases from boiler feed water and cutting SOx emissions from coal combustion, protecting downstream assets before water and flue gas leave the process.

Dissolved oxygen, carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulphide carried in boiler feed water are among the leading causes of corrosion and pitting in boilers, condensate lines and downstream piping. Ion Exchange's deaerators, strippers and scrubbers are engineered to strip these gases out of the water stream before it re-enters the boiler, while a range of treatment chemicals extend that protection to flue gas emissions from combustion.

INDION 6354 is a multifunctional coal additive that significantly reduces SOx emissions during coal combustion — an alternative for thermal power producers facing capex and opex pressure to invest in flue gas desulphurisation (FGD) systems, assured supply of limestone, or plant load factor restrictions tied to excessive SOx levels.

How It Works

Deaerators use a combination of heat and mechanical spray or tray action to drive dissolved oxygen and carbon dioxide out of boiler feed water before it reaches the boiler, cutting the corrosion load on the entire feedwater and steam system.

Strippers and scrubbers remove volatile dissolved gases such as CO2 and H2S, and on the emissions side, scrub acidic gases like SOx from combustion flue gas. INDION 6354 works differently again: dosed directly into the coal combustion process, it acts as a multifunctional additive that reduces SOx formation at the source rather than scrubbing it afterward.

Systems in This Range

Deaerators

Thermal and vacuum deaeration to strip dissolved O2 and CO2 from boiler feed water ahead of the boiler.

Strippers

Gas-stripping columns that remove volatile dissolved gases such as CO2 and H2S from process water.

Scrubbers

Flue gas scrubbing systems that reduce acidic gas emissions, including SOx, from combustion processes.

INDION 6354

A multifunctional coal additive dosed into combustion to significantly reduce SOx emissions from coal-fired boilers.

Why It Matters

Protects Boiler and Feedwater Systems

Removing dissolved O2, CO2 and H2S before the boiler reduces corrosion and pitting across the feedwater and steam circuit.

Cuts SOx Without a Full FGD Retrofit

INDION 6354 significantly reduces SOx emissions during coal combustion, offering thermal power producers an alternative to major flue gas desulphurisation capex.

Modular Across Water and Combustion Duties

Deaerators, strippers, scrubbers and combustion chemistry are sized and combined to fit anything from a single boiler feed line to a full power station circuit.
