Overview

INDION wastewater treatment systems are designed to produce an environmentally safe treated effluent and treated sludge suitable for disposal or reuse.

The treatment system depends on the characteristics of the wastewater and the treated water quality to be achieved, spanning primary treatment (screens, grit chambers and clarifiers to remove coarse and settleable solids), secondary treatment (biological processes to break down organic matter) and tertiary treatment (polishing secondary effluent to the quality needed for safe discharge or reuse, e.g., mainly the removal of dissolved solids).

Reverse osmosis
Reverse Osmosis (RO) is a high-pressure membrane separation process in which water selectively passes through a semipermeable membrane, while dissolved salts, macromolecules and other impurities are retained and progressively concentrated in the reject stream.
Ultrafiltration
Ultrafiltration is a tangential flow, pressure driven filtration process that separates particles on the basis of their molecular size. Pore diameters of ultrafiltration membranes are in the range of 10 to 200 A (0.001 to 0.02 micron). Solvents and species having a diameter smaller than the pore size of the membrane will pass through the membrane and emerge as ultrafiltrate known as permeate. Rejected species are progressively concentrated in the retained stream.

INDION ParaOx
INDION® PARAOX is an advanced oxidation technology for treating sewage streams and complex industrial effluents that are difficult to treat using conventional biological systems. With the controlled combination of ozone, oxidants, and UV, it generates highly reactive hydroxyl radicals that swiftly transform complex contaminants into CO₂ and water.

Heavy metal recovery systems
Ion Exchange’s SULFEX process offers an effective solution for the removal and recovery of heavy metals from industrial effluents. This proven precipitation technology involves the exchange of sulphide ions between ferrous sulphide and heavy metal ions present in the effluent, enabling efficient removal of heavy metal contaminants.
Oil screening & grease removal systems
These are simple tanks with inlet & outlet baffle arrangement. The tanks are designed to give enough residence time to enable removal of free oil & grease & other floating matter, scum etc. A detention time between 10 min to 60 min is provided in which time the oil & grease rises up & is skimmed off.
