ION EXCHANGE

Post Treatment

Boiler Water Chemicals

Treatment programmes that keep deposits and corrosion out of the whole boiler circuit, not just the drum.

Ion Exchange offers a wide range of boiler water treatment programmes for low, medium and high pressure boilers, to prevent deposits and corrosion in pre-boiler, boiler and post-boiler systems.

A boiler is treated as a circuit rather than as a single vessel. The condition of the feed water entering it, the chemistry held inside the drum, and what happens to the steam and condensate on the way back all decide whether the boiler scales, corrodes or carries over — so the programme covers all three, and is formulated separately for each pressure class.

How It Works

Treatment begins before the boiler. Pre-boiler chemistry conditions the feed water and scavenges the residual dissolved oxygen that mechanical deaeration leaves behind, because oxygen carried in with the feed water is what pits the economiser and the feed lines.

Inside the boiler, the programme holds drum-water chemistry within the range the operating pressure requires, so any hardness that gets past pretreatment precipitates as a mobile sludge that leaves on blowdown instead of baking onto the tube surface as scale. Post-boiler treatment then protects the steam and condensate side, where carbon dioxide and oxygen drive the corrosion that returns iron and copper to the feed tank.

Where the Programme Applies

Pre-Boiler Treatment

Conditions the feed water and scavenges residual dissolved oxygen before it reaches the boiler.

Boiler Treatment

Holds drum-water chemistry for the operating pressure so hardness precipitates as removable sludge rather than scale.

Post-Boiler Treatment

Protects the steam and condensate side against the carbon dioxide and oxygen that corrode return lines.

Low, Medium & High Pressure Boilers

Programmes are formulated for each pressure class rather than applied as one generic chemistry.

Why It Matters

Controls Deposits Across the Circuit

Deposit control covers the pre-boiler, boiler and post-boiler systems together rather than the drum alone.

Controls Corrosion at Every Stage

Oxygen scavenging ahead of the boiler and condensate-side treatment behind it address corrosion where it actually starts.

Matched to Operating Pressure

Low, medium and high pressure boilers each get chemistry formulated for the conditions they run at.
