El proceso suele tardar entre 7 y 8 d\u00edas, despu\u00e9s de lo cual la resina cati\u00f3nica se convierte en forma de amonio y luego la pulidora se opera en el ciclo de amon\u00edaco. La experiencia ha demostrado que el funcionamiento del ciclo de hidr\u00f3geno casi siempre no presenta problemas y produce condensado de la calidad requerida. El sodio, el cloruro y la s\u00edlice del tambor de la caldera aumentan dentro de los 2 a 3 d\u00edas de funcionamiento de la pulidora en el ciclo de amonio.<\/p><p>La separaci\u00f3n de la resina de intercambio i\u00f3nico en un lecho mixto se realiza lavando la unidad con agua cuando la resina cati\u00f3nica se deposita en el fondo y la resina ani\u00f3nica ligera est\u00e1 en la parte superior. Sin embargo, el proceso casi siempre resulta en la presencia de un peque\u00f1o porcentaje de resinas cati\u00f3nicas en la porci\u00f3n ani\u00f3nica y viceversa, un fen\u00f3meno llamado contaminaci\u00f3n cruzada. Tras la regeneraci\u00f3n de la resina ani\u00f3nica con \u00e1lcali, la resina cati\u00f3nica presente en la porci\u00f3n ani\u00f3nica se convierte en forma de sodio y de manera similar, la resina
